Mego Black Hole toy line

Mego released their Black Hole toy line in 1979 with high hopes, but the movie was a disappointment, which also translated over to the toys. The Black Hole line featured a primary 3.75 inch series, and a 12 Inch series as well. The 3.75″ featured two waves of twelve total figures, while the 12 Inch line consisted of six figures. Several items were only made available overseas, such as three of the second wave figures, the Laserscope Fighter, and a series of 8 Inch magnetic figures.

Remaining 3.75in Black hole Figures

Black Hole (1979-1980): 3.75 Inch Figures – Series 1 - Mego released eight new figures for Series 1 of their 3.75 Inch series of action figures for the Black Hole line from 1979-1980.

Series 2 - Mego released four figures in total for the 2nd wave of Black Hole 3.75 Inch figures, but only one of them was released in the United States (Sentry). The other three (Old B.O.B, S.T.A.R, and the Humanoid) were only released in Canada and Italy.

Series 1Captain Dan Holland1979£ 58.74£ 18.36None Less Common – Appears less oftenEditCaptain Dan Holland was portrayed by Robert Forester in the Black Hole movie and was the commanding officer of the Palomino. It was great that Robert Forester was rewarded with his own action figure after a long resume of film work dating back to 1967.
Series 1Charles Pizer1979£ 58.74£ 18.36None Less Common – Appears less oftenEditCharles Pizer was portrayed by Joseph Bottoms in the Black Hole movie and was the first officer of the Palomino. Pizer was Captain Holland’s right hand man, but the Pizer 3.75 inch figure looks pretty similar to the Dan Holland figure, but with a slightly different hair color.
Series 1Dr. Alex Durant1979£ 58.74£ 18.36None Less Common – Appears less oftenEditDr. Alex Durant was portrayed by Anthony Perkins in the Black Hole movie and acted as the Senior Science Officer aboard the ship. Who knew that we would one day have an Anthony (Norman Bates) Perkins action figure? The likeness of this figure was actually pretty decent.

Series 2Humanoid1980£ 1285.03£ 514.01Cloth Cloak Rare – Rarely seen in any conditionEditThe Humanoids were the worker bees on the Cygnus ship. There were multiples of them, and it was later found they were actually the zombie like original members of the crew. This is a great looking figure but unfortunately, it was only released in Italy and Canada for some reason. That being said, this is considered a rather rare figure and does not come up for sale very often on the secondary market.
Series 2Old B.O.B1980£ 954.59£ 367.15Figure Stand Hard to Find – Occasionally listedEditOld B.O.B was voiced by the iconic Slim Pickens in the Black Hole. Similar to V.I.N Cent this is a cool looking figure but unfortunately it was only released in Italy and Canada for some reason. That being said this is considered a rather rare figure and does not come up for sale very often on the secondary market. Also, like V.I.N Cent, the figure comes with a stand for display purposes.
Series 2Sentry1980£ 165.22£ 64.25Laser Pistol Moderate Difficulty – Takes some patienceEditThe Sentry figure was the only Series 2 figure to be released in the United States, as the other three were only released in Italy and Canada for some reason, This is a real shame because all of the Series 2 figures are super cool and probably the best figures in the series. That being said, this is considered a rather rare figure and is tough to find still carded.
Series 2S.T.A.R1980£ 954.59£ 367.15Laser Pistol Hard to Find – Occasionally listedEditS.T.A.R was the elite sentry who acts as one of the commanders of the unit. It just so happens that he is also one of the top sharp shooters on the Cygnus. This is a cool looking figure but unfortunately, it was only released in Italy and Canada for some reason. That being said, this is considered a rather rare figure and does not come up for sale very often on the secondary market.
